I've already right-clicked on the folder to which I want the scans to go and checked the box "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object , and then click Ok.
This corrected one error: the scanner now picks up my computer. But it then does not scan. I assume this is due to the lack of the Event Manager.
